Latvian mythology is strongly linked to powerful symbols and Natural Phenomena. The most common tree in old Latvian folks songs and stories is the oak tree, the symbol of power, strength, and resistance. You will have the opportunity to listen to Latvian shaman and to participate in fire ritual that is based on local native traditions. Tree, just like a person, can be recognized only when met and after time spent together. To feel the power of the Oak Trees- the most sacred trees in Latvia, to receive their energy, inspiration, and peace one must meet them with respect. You will have a glimpse of paganic attitude towards nature through our stories and created experience.
The length of the hiking trail is around 5 km, which passes through meadows and forest. Most of the time we will be hiking ''off the trail'', so be prepared! The tempo of the hike is slow and meditative. During the walk, we also will have a picnic with fresh, seasonal and local food. The hike includes forest-grown oaks aged to 300 years, as well as the remains of forest bunkers from World War II. In the second part of the day we will meet local shaman to experience the Fire ritual based on Latvian traditions. Latvia wasn’t originally a Christian country. Here shamans and natural gods came way before Christ and they never really left. Shamanism means the ability of the soul to form contacts and communication with the spirits, to acquire knowledge, to gain strength. In the tribe, the shaman had many roles - a healer, a mistress, an artist, even a politician, a diplomat, and a judge. We want to invite you for a special experience to deepen your knowledge about the world of folklore, native rituals and to get to know something about paganic Latvian traditions and connection to Nature through them. We invite you to come with an open mind and respect to the Nature. Book this tour now or CONTACT US for the customized offers! |
